THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Halloween is on the schedule, but we like to put as much variety as possible in our weekly Top 5 Things to Do. If you're looking for spooky fun only, check out our Halloween Guide. Meanwhile, here's what else is going on this week in The Woodlands.

Drop it like it's hot has new meaning! The Woodlands Children's Museum is combining its Boogie Bash with fire prevention education 11 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 9 at. For toddlers and children up to age 5, Boogie Bash encourages cooperation, promotes social interaction and develops a sense of rhythm. Free with paid admission.

The election is just around the corner, and The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a series of candidate forums to help you decide where to cast your ballot. Wednesday Oct. 10 is the Conroe ISD Board of Trustees candidate forum from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. Attending the forum is:

The forums will be held at The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, located at 9320 Lakeside Blvd., Suite 200 in The Woodlands.

Rock the Row in Hughes Landing is back with the first act of the series 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday Oct. 11. Time Warp plays hits from the 80's, 90's and today. New this season: Trailgate, a fun trail run/walk before each concert that begins at 6 p.m. at Fleet Feet. The first 100 participants will receive a free t-shirt. Check it out at the Hughes Landing Band Shell near Truluck's on scenic Lake Woodlands. Bring a blanket and a picnic basket, or grab some food from any of the nearby surrounding restaurants with a patio view of all the fun.

As a writer, I love a clever play on words. That's why I was thrilled to see the theme of this year's Haunting at Bear Branch. It's the Psycho Path! The debut for this season is 8 p.m. Friday Oct. 12, but you can check it out Friday Oct. 19 and 26 as well, or on Saturdays Oct. 13, 20 and 27. A tour guide leads groups of visitors through a haunted trail filled with your worst fears. Best to keep the little ghosts and goblins at home, as this is recommended for ages 9 and up. Fee is $9 per person. Get your tickets now by calling 281-210-3950.

Ant Man and The Wasp. You've perhaps seen them on the screen, but now you can put them on canvas 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday Oct. 13. Painting With a Twist will guide you step-by-step in creating a work of art you will take home with you. They provide paint, brushes, aprons and wine cups if you should choose to bring an adult beverage of your choice (ages 21 and up if that beverage is of the alcohol variety!) Register here.
