THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Watch for Montgomery County and other counties, in effect from Friday morning through that evening for dry and breezy conditions across southeast Texas. Additionally, a Red Flag warning remains in effect until 7:00 pm this evening.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.

Dry air will overspread the region this afternoon with northwest winds limiting the recovery overnight. Strong drying will take place on Thursday the relative humidity falling very quickly during the morning as winds strengthen up to 25 mph and become gusty. Humidity will maintain minimum values 14 to 20 percent.

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
