Texas Renaissance Festival Celebrates 45th Anniversary
TODD MISSION, TX – The Texas Renaissance Festival will be celebrating their 45th season when they welcome patrons to the festival grounds on October 5.
For many of us, the Texas Renaissance Festival, or “Ren Fest,” is an annual tradition where we indulge in the sights, sounds and flavors of the Renaissance era. With 25 stages, over 350 shops and countless shows and performers, the TRF is sure to offer a little something for everyone.
Started in 1974, the TRF has become the largest Renaissance festival in the United States, welcoming over 500,000 guests annually on their beautiful 55 acres of land. They also offer over 200 acres of camping facilities.
Each weekend will be themed, with the opening weekend's theme “Octoberfest” on October 5 & 6. Following will be “1001 Dreams” on October 12 & 13, “Pirate Adventure” on October 19 & 20, “All Hallows Eve” on October 26 & 27, “Return to the Renaissance” on November 2 & 3, “Heroes and Villains” on November 9 & 10, “Barbarian Invasion” on November 16 & 17, “Highland Fling” on November 23 & 24 and wrapping up with “Celtic Christmas” on Friday, November 29 through Sunday, December 1.
There are so many genres of food, that it would be impossible to list them all. Our favorite, the turkey leg, is a meal in itself and is sure to keep you satisfied during your visit. The TRF also offers specialty experiences, including the “King's Feast” and “TRF After Dark.” Looking to get married in the near future? Yes, the TRF also offers different wedding venues. We were fortunate to witness a wedding during our visit a few years ago, and it was a beautiful ceremony.
The Texas Renaissance Festival is located at 21778 FM 1774 Rd., Todd Mission, TX 77363. The festival runs weekends from October 5 through December 1 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with the Royal Fireworks Show on Saturday and Sunday evening at 7:50 PM (weather permitting).
