One of my favorite events here at the Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church is our annual Alternative Market and Advent Festival. It's a wonderful chance to meet people who care passionately about our local and global mission partners. I can always find something for each person on my shopping list: coffee for vets for some friends, a gift to a seafarer for my dad, peanuts and peanut butter for the Montgomery County Food Bank for my sister, but my niece is my favorite. For her first Christmas, she got a dress sent to a girl in Peru. For her second Christmas, she got a dress sent to a girl in Zambia. For her third Christmas, she got a share of a llama and a Peruvian llama magnet. This year, she gets to choose who she wants to help from our shopping list.
Come join us on Saturday, December 7th and Sunday, December 8th. Learn more about our mission partners and find delightful gifts that give more than once for those hard to shop for people on your list... or everyone on your list. We're excited to introduce some new missions this year like Family Promise, the Community Assistance Center, and Mo-Ranch’s Camp in the Valley AND on Saturday, we're having story time for the children. Come hear We've Got This, a Sesame Street story about Lily who has experienced homelessness, and make a craft, all in support of Family Promise.
One hundred percent of the proceeds of our Alternative Market go to missions. Last year we raised nearly $17,000 for our mission partners! You can see why I'm so excited. Please join us for this great event Saturday, Dec. 7th from 9-noon, and Sunday, Dec. 8th from 9:30-1:00.
