We have passionate runners in the city of Houston! In our neck of the woods, there are plenty of trails for running or leisurely hikes. We actually dove into a few in a recent blog, Happy Hiking in The Woodlands. Click to read!

September is an exciting month for runners. There are quite a few upcoming races to be held in Houston and surrounding areas in the upcoming months, so let the training begin (or continue)! If you are interested in participating in a 5k, 10k, half marathon, or marathon, check out some of these options, there might be a perfect fit for you this year.

Feeling Festive?

The Houston Running Co. hosts holiday inspired runs year-round! You can view their calendar here. Coming up on October 30th, the Monster Mask 5K & 10K is going to be a spooky one! This race starts and finishes at the Karbach Brewing Co. in Houston. It is claimed to be without a doubt the best Halloween themed run and after-party in town! If you’re looking for a short distance race that is focused on having fun, this is your chance.

Feeling Inspired?

The Chevron Houston Marathon Run for a Reason program is an opportunity to connect with the philanthropic community and give back with your run. Race participants can fundraise and raise awareness for meaningful causes. In the upcoming 2022 event, there are 61 charities to choose from! The marathon and half marathon are held on January 16, 2022, starting downtown at Congress & San Jacinto. This will be a huge event!

Feeling Local?

From a 2k family fun run up to a full marathon, The Woodlands Marathon has something for everyone! Take a stroll around Lake Woodlands and Research Forest to familiarize yourself with your community in a whole new way. The event is on March 5, 2022 and begins at Town Green Park. Not looking to participate in the run? The Woodlands Marathon is holding a Cheer Challenge for groups of 15 people or more who choose a theme and head to the “Cheer Zone” to root on runners to the finish line! How fun is that?!

If you choose to sign up or have any tips for first-time runners, please share your experiences and tips! Happy training!
