Experience

I have over seven years of experience in classroom teaching and private tutoring. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in Math and Science Education, I went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Advanced Mathematics Studies. In both degrees, I earned a 4.0. With humble confidence, I can say that I will expertly teach your level of math. I am certified to teach K-12th Grade Mathematics as well. Teaching in both private and public school settings, I know the expectations and standards for your school. Being a private tutor for several years, has allowed me to develop sessions that specifically meet the needs of the student.

Philosophy

Math can be embarrassing, or intimidating, for a lot of people. It is easy not to enjoy math, simply due to the difficulty of the subject. I hope to change this for you! I will create a safe space for you to feel comfortable about taking risks and making mistakes. Making mistakes and learning from them are keys to success in the field mathematics. It will take practice, explanation, modeling, and more practice. Through our sessions, you will gain confidence and capability in your mathematical skills. We will develop a plan together to get you to where you would like to be. I look forward to working with you!

About Me

I am a Texan, born and raised! I went through local public schools as a student, where I fell in love with learning and teaching. Even at a young age, I was constantly helping my friends in class…especially with math homework. I knew that teaching and impacting students is something that I was good at, and what I wanted to pursue as a career. Earning degrees in the field and teaching locally has helped me live out my dream. Offering private tutoring sessions and teaching in the classroom has helped me to reach students in positive ways. I am a believer in building relationships with students and helping them feel successful. Math is one of those subjects in particular that frustrates people and can sometimes even affect one’s self-esteem. I hope to change the perception of math and the mindset that some people are not a “math person”. Everyone can learn and grow!

Though I preach lifelong learning to my students, I have to model what this looks like myself. On a personal note, when I am not doing math-related activities and clubs, I like to read, bake, and undertake wood-working. I also have a passion for music and singing, which my husband enjoys (I hope). We have a love of travel and experiencing new cultures as well.

Curiosity should never stop! No matter what age you are, whether you are 5 years old trying to make it in Kindergarten, or 65 years old going back to college, I would love to work with you! This passion for learning and excelling in math class is something I want for you. I will do my best to make you feel cared for and expertly complete your next math class.
