Third Place in SPC

Coach Jill DelRio: Each player on the team had a pivotal role in the win to clinch third place in SPC. This makes it extra special for the team because when one teammate lost, another player stepped up and got the win for the team. If was definitely a team effort. So very proud of the way the girls played, many of the players played like they have never played before.

Boys • 5th place finish
Opening Round: vs. Casady • 4-1 WIN
Championship Quarterfinals: vs. St. Mark’s • 3-1 LOSS
Final Game: vs. Trinity Valley • 4-1 WIN
Fifth Place in SPC

Coach Jill DelRio: The boys had an outstanding SPC tournament weekend, clinching fifth place. The boys had tough matches with only one loss in the three matches they played. Wyatt Wright played the match of his life, stunning the coaches and his teammates with the exceptional gamesmanship he exhibited to win the match over a solid SMS line one singles player. The boys played lights out all weekend! I am very excited to see what they can accomplish next year as we have only one player graduating.

VARSITY BOYS’ BASEBALL finishes fourth in SPC
Opening Round: vs. Episcopal of Dallas • 6-3 WIN
Championship Quarterfinals: vs. Trinity Valley • 13-0 WIN
Championship Semifinals: vs. Kinkaid • 6-5 LOSS
Final Game: vs. St. John’s • 4-2 LOSS
Fourth Place in SPC

Coach Mike Williams: We went 2-2 in SPC playoffs to finish in fourth place, and 6-4 overall in SPC play this year. We went into the playoffs with a great senior class lead by Logan Leax and Evan Minarovic. We started off 2-0 in the playoffs and played a hard-fought game against Kinkaid, losing 6-5. I’ve never been around a group as close as this one is. Every day the boys are ready to go and never ever give up on each other. It was a great pleasure this year coaching these boys.

VARSITY GIRLS’ SOFTBALL finishes 10th in SPC
Opening Round: vs. Casady • 18-3 LOSS
Consolation Semifinals: vs. Episcopal of Dallas • 25-6 WIN
Consolation Finals: vs. Hockaday • 17-0 LOSS

Coach Nicole Hedden: This was a tough year for our Dragon softball team. A couple of our athletes had to step up to play different positions this year such as Ally Flinn who had to take the mound. As one of the most athletic players on the team, she stepped up to take this role. It was not an easy task but she knew her team needed her. She also had the second highest batting average on the team at .577. Alex Sims is the starting second baseman moved to catcher, due to injuries on the team. Not only did she step up behind the plate, but she had the highest batting average on the team at 583. Outfielder Peyton Lien moved to second base as a freshman. She did an outstanding job as well. Liz Liner and Fleur Harper were two new additions to the team who earned starting positions in the outfield. We have a lot of work ahead of us for the 2020 season, but I believe in this group of young ladies and the incoming freshmen. We can’t wait to get started.
