COVID-19 Test To Treat Program In Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Montgomery County Public Health District would like to announce a new federal program for COVID-19 called ‘Test to Treat’ with available locations in our area.
If a person tests positive for COVID-19 at one of the ‘Test to Treat’ sites in the county, and treatments are deemed appropriate for them, they can get a prescription from a healthcare provider and have the prescription filled all in one location. People can also bring test results obtained from a home testing kit to ‘Test to Treat’ sites and be evaluated by a healthcare provider for treatment. The one-stop ‘Test to Treat’ sites are available nationwide at hundreds of pharmacy-based clinics and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)-supported federally qualified health centers (FQHCs).
The COVID-19 ‘Test to Treat’ locator is a tool available for the public, and oral antiviral pills from Merck (18 or older) and Pfizer (12 or older and weighing at least 40 kg) are available. This is for treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19, to be assessed by the provider to determine if these therapies are available for the individual.

The ‘Test to Treat’ program does not change existing requirements for qualified healthcare providers to write the prescriptions for these medications. In addition, people can continue to be tested and treated by their own healthcare providers, who can prescribe these oral antivirals to eligible patients. Patients can pick up these prescriptions wherever oral antivirals are distributed (which can also be found on the locator).
A call center is also available at 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489) to get help in English, Spanish, and more than 150 other languages – 8:00 am to midnight ET, 7 days a week. The Disability Information and Access Line (DIAL) is also available to specifically help people with disabilities access services. To get help, call 1-888-677-1199, Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm ET or email DIAL@usaginganddisability.org.
