VARSITY GOLF: SPC Champion Claggett Breaks Conference Two-Day Total Record

April 25-26 at SPC Championships, Pecan Valley Golf Course, Fort Worth

Girls • 4th Place Overall

Tillie Claggett 68-65=133 SPC CHAMPION

Darcy Wright 77-74-151

Alicia Fein 92-97-189

Claire Glymph 111-110-221

Amy Tian 125-118=243

Boys • 12th Place

Carson Berger 81-82=163

Elias Boles 84-87=171

Jason Xiao 86-95=181

Grant Bergman 89-87=176

Coach Rod Gold: I am extremely proud of all our golfers. I am honored to have been able to witness Tillie Claggett break the SPC Record for the lowest two-day total in the Southwest Preparatory Conference. Tillie shot 68 on Day 1 and followed it up with an extremely impressive 65 on Day 2 for a two-day total of 133 (11 under par). Although this particular golf course is not ideally suited for Tillie’s power game, she utilized exceptional course management and excellent ball-striking on her way to becoming the 2022 SPC Individual Champion. Congratulations Tillie!

Darcy Wright fired an impressive 77-74 for a two-day total of 151, a truly impressive score for her first high school championships. I am looking forward to watching her as she continues to impress.

Our girls’ team showed poise as they jumped up in the standings to finish in 4th Place.

The boys also performed well. They would be the first to tell you they left a couple of strokes out on the course, but we saw some really encouraging play which will pay dividends moving forward. We are very young on the boys side and they gained some valuable experience to build upon for the future. They also developed friendships while competing over the course of the 2 days.

I am proud of all of our golfers and I look forward to what the future holds.
