HS Softball: The Woodlands Top College Park in War of the Woods
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The rivalry continues, this time in softball as College Park hosts The Woodlands in the first installment of the War of the Woods on Tuesday afternoon. Since it is Spring Break, the crowd gets to enjoy a day game which doesn’t happen often in High School sports.
The Lady Highlanders would strike first in the bottom of the second. They were able to get a sac-fly which drew one in giving The Woodlands a quick 1-0 lead heading onto the bottom of the second.
Chesney Davis with The Woodlands and Jasmine Bouziri-Vuong with College Park battled it out in the circle but it was Davis that would come out on top. She was able to put away many hitters and not allow a run to pass home plate.
The Woodlands would increase their lead in the fifth as well as two runs in the sixth, giving them a 4-0 lead heading into the final inning.
Although the College Park pitching was strong, The Woodlands managed to get one final run in before their final out of the inning. College Park tried to rally back but they were stopped by Davis’ consistent arm.
The Woodlands wins the first ‘War of the Woods’ 5-0 and will face Caney Creek tomorrow while College Park travels to Oak Ridge.
